Another Race for Alex

After the marathon, Alex decided he wanted to work on increasing his speed, so he decided to train for a 5k. A few weekends ago, he completed his first 5k at a race in Waukesha, WI. The weather was beautiful, sunny and mid-50s. The whole family went to cheer him on. The girls and I walked the 3.1 mile route, while the participants ran by us. We had beautiful scenery - the route was along the river path. We had the chance to cheer Alex on 4 different times during the race. Once, from across the river (and yes he could here us!), once while he passed us, once while he passed us again looping back around, and again at the finish line. Allie wanted to run too, so she did sprints with Alex after the race was over. She also occupied herself running drills on the playground equipment. Katelyn was content to walk around the playground, go down the slide with her big sis and swing.

Overall, Alex finished the race in 22:54. He was hoping to do it in under 21 minutes, but he seemed okay with the results. He finished 8th overall. Way to go, Alex!
