Katelyn

She cracks us up on a regular basis. As of late, her favorite phrases are:

  • No Way!!!! (Not used to tell us no, but as a "are you kidding me?" type phrase)
  • Ohhhh Mannnnn!!!
  • Allie, I have (an) idea!
  • Oh my gosh!!!!
  • Ohhh Mommyyyy.... Ohhh Daddyyyyy..... (until we come or respond to her)
  • Look at me!
She also amazes us with the things she is learning (with virtually no involvement from us):
  • She can count to 39 totally unassisted and if prompted with 40, 50, 60, etc. she can make it all the way up to 100.
  • She knows her shapes, colors and can say the alphabet. She's also very into "spelling" words with her big sister. She doesn't actually spell them correctly, but instead strings a bunch of letters together and pretends like she is spelling them. She is pretty close to knowing how to spell Allie though. We're working on teaching her how to spell her own name now that we know she could do it.
  • She thinks she can tell time. I've become so used to asking Allie what time it is, that Katelyn knows just what to do when the question comes up. She runs into the kitchen or bedrooms, looks at the digital clock and strings a bunch of numbers together. The most popular time of day - 6:19.
  • She has phenomenal verbal skills. She speaks in full, 6-8 word sentences (and has been since she was about 18 months) and has no trouble stringing multiple sentences together to get her point across. Her vocabulary is amazing and she often speaks so clearly that, on the phone, people can't tell if it's her or Allie.
Things she loves to do:
  • Play with her big sister.
  • Make/play with pretend food.
  • Take care of her babies.
  • Talk and sing songs to the baby in Mommy's tummy.
  • Run, dance and sing.
  • Color and paint.
  • Go to "school" (a parent/child art class we took together this Fall).
  • She wants to take gymnastics so badly! Unfortunately, we had scheduling conflicts with all the class times this Fall. We're hoping to get her in something through the YMCA this Winter.
  • Repeat, word for word, whatever her big sister is saying. This is a new development.
  • Pretend she's a monster or pretend we're a monster and run from us.
  • Have Mommy do her hair. She is very particular about how I do her hair and we've had some 20 min. tantrums if we're running short on time and I'm not able to do it to her liking.
She's quiet in front of others, but at home, she's got one great BIG personality!

She's a crazy girl and we love her to pieces.
