Our weekend kicked-off with Alex's birthday on Friday. As he and I were working out in the yard that evening, after we thought out kids were in bed asleep, we looked up and saw Allie standing at her window, crying to come out with us. So, we caved. And we're glad we did. She had a wonderful time chasing fireflies in the backyard. (Aren't the childhood memories flooding back for you? They sure were for us!)

Saturday, Grandma and Papa M. arrived, along with Uncle Charlie, Aunt Beth and Uncle Dave. They came up from Iowa to help us celebrate Katelyn's 1st birthday. Since her birthday isn't until the 7th, we'll wait to post then. They were only in town for 24 hours, but we're so glad they came!
Sunday, we made our way to the 4th of July parade. Temps were in the 90s, but we found a nice shaded area to sit. Plus, they gave out water and popsicles at the parade, so we didn't even notice the sweat pouring off of us! We debated about venturing out for the fireworks later that evening, but with family coming into town later this week and a week long staycation planned for us while they are here, we decided sleep for the kiddos was the better choice. I don't think they minded!
waiting for the parade to kick-off
sleeping through the parade

cheering for the veterans
dancing
hugging
cooling off with her built-in air conditioning
sleeping in the wagon after the parade, as we headed back to the car

awake after the parade
since sissy Allie was sleeping, Katelyn had plenty of time for playtime and photos

And yesterday, Alex took the girls to the zoo in the morning, and then we all spent the rest of the day, at home, relaxing. :)
Happy 4th of July, everyone!
