2 1/2 weeks

It's hard to believe that more than 2 weeks have gone by since Katelyn was born. So far, (knock on wood), she seems to have a very easy-going disposition. She sleeps most of the day, rolls with the punches (literally) or shall we call it prodding from her big sister?, is a quick and efficient eater and only has a short period of fussiness during the night. She lost her umbilical cord when she was 10 days old and had her first bath thereafter. She also had her 2-week wellness check-up on Thursday and is doing great. Her jaundice is going away and she's regained her birth weight, plus some. She's measuring at 7lbs. 7 ozs. (20%) and 20.5 inches long (50%). The doctor gave us the go-ahead for Katelyn to begin dictating when and how often she'd like to eat. We're thrilled we no longer have to wake her up in the middle of the night to eat! If she's hungry, she'll let us know.
As for big sister Allie, she's hanging in there. She is wonderful with Katelyn (it's Mommy and Daddy that she's having issues with). She loves to give Katelyn kisses, name her body parts and push her in her swing. Allie also loves "tummy time"...when Katelyn lies on her stomach to help strengthen her neck muscles. Allie gets down on the floor with Katelyn, and holds toys in front of her so she has something to look at. It's very cute to see the two of them interacting with one another.
On a side note, Allie had her first big tumble this week. While running around her room, she fell down and hit her lip on her bed. After we rinsed out a mouth full of blood, we realized she sliced off the flap of skin connecting the inside of her top lip to her gum. No damage done to her teeth though. After a tearful 5 minutes or so, Allie sat down at her picnic table and enjoyed a cool, refreshing Popsicle. After that, she forgot all about her injury.
