I know I haven't done much but post pictures lately. Katelyn is keeping us busy and zapping any creative juices that we may have had.
So in an effort to record a little of our daily lives during the Summer of 2009, I guess I'd better add a few more details.
Allie:
She's just as high-spirited, high-energy as ever. She has more bumps and bruises than any kid I've met (last week she got a black eye at story time and just today she bit through the inside of her lip while playing at the park). She's definitely a tomboy, but at the same time, she's very much a girly-girl (as you'll see in the photos below). So what's a typical summer day like for Allie? Rise and shine - 5am. Breakfast and some television (so Mommy and Daddy can wake up!). Then, on most days, it's play-time with friends...park, zoo, swimming, library or story time. After burning off some energy, we head home for lunch and naptime. Allie usually sleeps for a few hours and upon waking, has a snack and heads back outside for more playtime...pool, outdoor toys, sidewalk chalk, etc. We usually head inside around 5pm when Daddy gets home and begin making dinner (she loves to pull up a chair and help). After dinner, it's bathtime, storytime and in bed around 7pm. Whew...busy girl. I'm tired just thinking about her day.
In the past couple of weeks, Allie's experienced one new first that is definitely blog-worthy. She went to her first fair and LOVED it. It's hard to say what was her favorite thing. She really enjoyed the carousel and a little ride that went up high and around in circles. She also loved petting the goats, lamas, bunnies and horses. And she was mesmerized by some baby chicks. Of course, the fair experience is not complete without the food and we all know Allie loves her food. She tried some fried cheese curds (super unhealthy, but we live in WI and she had to try them!), cotton candy and funnel cake. She thought the cotton candy was weird, but ate what we gave her. Hands down, though, the funnel cake was her favorite.
Some photos of our girly-girl. (Side note: In light of her recent boo-boos, we are thinking about making her wear the helmet all the time).

(Wait a minute, is she giving us the bird? No, but I wouldn't put it past her!).
Now we know where her weirdness comes from!

I had to take this one because I thought her hair was so cute. It stayed that way for all of 5 minutes...but at least I got a picture of it!
Allie's most recent art project. (Not sure why it's showing up horizontal instead of verticle).
Katelyn:
Is still very easy-going, which we love. She is starting to have more fussy periods during the day, but we'd much prefer daytime crying to middle of the night crying! She is sleeping longer stretches in the evening--usually 4 hours at a time, although we have had a few 5 hour stretches! She's starting to fill out her newborn clothes and will probably outgrow then in the next couple of weeks. (It's hard to believe she is almost a month old already!). She has reflux and spits up a lot (something I'm trying to get used to since Allie kept everything down!). She's shown some mini-smiles and we can't wait to see a great big one from her. Other than that, not much to report with Katelyn, as she spends most of her time sleeping.
A few mini-smiles.

Making out with Mommy.
Some funny faces.

And peaceful slumbers.

That's it for the kiddos, now on to the big kids. One of me, since I'm hardly ever in the photos.
And last, but definitely not least, one of Alex and I. Happy 3rd Anniversary to us!
