more January pictures

I've neglected my blogging for the last few weeks and I know people want to see pictures. Here you go. These were taken during the month of January.

Making zucchini bread with Mommy.

Allie's first, and only, stint with finger painting. She loved it. Mommy was a little less enthusiastic. (You'd understand if we had an "after" picture of Allie.)

Helping Daddy shovel. He suggested Allie pick up the chunks of snow and take them over to the side of the driveway. As you can see, he has her doing most of the work!

Allie loves her baby and likes to take care of it. One morning we found her making a bed for it, using a cloth napkin, washcloth and potholder.

A few weeks ago, we, and a few friends, went to a fun place called StoneFire Pizza Co. Not only do they have pizza, but they also have an indoor play area for children. Allie especially loved the water table, the do it yourself face painting and the pretend pizza parlor.

Allie and Daddy playing together.

We're eliminating Allie's morning nap. She was finishing up lunch one day, and I ran downstairs to check the laundry. This is how I found her when I came back upstairs.

And here's one last cute picture that I have to throw in.
I know I say this all the time, but it really is amazing to watch Allie growing up before our eyes. These next few months are full of developmental milestones and she is going to be a full-blown toddler before we know it. (She probably already is, we just don't want to admit it yet!). She's quite the little character and I'll end this post with a few precious stories about our girl.

  • As I mentioned previously, Allie loves her baby. Last week, she was "mothering" her. Feeding her, diapering her (with some real diapers), and then holding her as she ran from one activity to another. At one point, she decided it was time to give this baby and all her babies and teddy bears some loving. So she ran from one stuffed animal to another, showering them with kisses. When she was finished, she ran out of the room, with her baby, but then ran back in to give me a kiss. I was feeling special that she had remembered me, until I watched the next series of events unfold. As she left the room a second time, she leaned down, gave her baby a kiss, and then turned to her side and gave the wall a kiss too. I guess inanimate objects are just as important to kiss as babies and mommies.
  • We have a little drawer under our stove where we keep towels, cloth napkins, placemats, etc. A few days ago, I came into the kitchen and found Allie riffling through it (a daily occurrence). As I walked closer, I saw she had her sippy cup in one hand and one of my slippers wrapped around her other hand. She turned to me with both hands on the sippy cup (containing cold milk) and said "hot Mommy". I couldn't help but laugh at the ingenious way she turned my bedroom slipper into her potholder.
