11 months old!

Can you believe it? We can't! Our little girl is becoming so grown-up. And she is definitely developing her own little, or should we say, big personality!

Here's a little peak at some of her new skills:

  • Standing on her own for a few seconds at a time but only until she notices she is doing it, and then she gets nervous and sits down.
  • Walking holding onto one of Mommy or Daddy's hands. She's taken a few steps here and there, but definitely doesn't feel comfortable doing it yet.
  • Crawling up the stairs and climbing up furniture. If she can't reach things, she pushes a toy up to the furniture and stands on it!
  • She's working on cutting her FIRST tooth. It hasn't broken through the skin quite yet, but it is definitely close...we think.
  • Using sign language to tell us "more" or "done".
  • Waving, clapping, playing patty-cake.
  • While looking at books, she says "woof" for dog (sometimes) and "quack" for duck or anything that resembles one. We also caught her saying "cow" and "moo" a couple of times. She says "more" which sounds more like "moh" and "ba" for "ball" or "book". She says "hi" (but not as often as she used to) and loves to say "uh oh"...she has started crafting situations just so she can say it; she especially loves to drop or throw toys, sippy cups or her spoon on the ground. And of course she says, "dada", "dadee", "mama", "mamee", and if she is really upset (usually screaming in her crib at bedtime), "mamadada" or "mameedadee".
  • Allie also is recognizing some things by name, which is so amazing to me. The other day I said, "Allie can you get your teddy bear?". And without me pointing to it, she crawled across her room to pick it up and bring it over to me. I haven't started exploring this new phenomenon yet, so in the coming weeks we'll see how many things she knows by name.
  • She is transitioning to table foods, which I have been reluctant to do simply because I know that her diet is so much more nutritional than ours! At this point, she has a favorite breakfast which consists of a banana and cheerios/yogurt/or toast. Lunch she has at least one fruit and veggie, and some sort of protein like yogurt/cheese/cottage cheese/or meat. And at dinnertime, she has at least one fruit and veggie and then a small portion of our meal. So far, her favorites are: beef stroganoff, pasta with chicken and veggies, lasagna, roast, and BBQ pork chops. She seems to love anything with meat!
  • As for height and weight, last we checked (a couple of weeks ago) she was right at 17 lbs. (5%) and 26 inches (well below the growth chart). As for her weight in relation to her height, she is doing wonderfully...somewhere around 75-80%.
On a serious note, we know many people have been impacted by the flooding and severe weather here in the Midwest. For those family and friends that have been affected, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable summer!
