An update and a couple of cute pics

Allie had lots of firsts this last week or two. She learned how to wave, she started making coordinated crawling attempts (arms and legs together) but can only go a foot or so before collapsing, and she is now saying "Da"!

The "waving" story is pretty cute, so I have to share. Allie was playing one late afternoon and was using her high-pitch yell/cry/squeal as she did so. This had been going on for about 45 minutes and Mommy was starting to get a headache. So I said, "Allie", she looked up at me and I said "shh, not so loud" as I put my finger to my mouth. She proceeded to give me a huge grin, stick her hand up in the air and wave her little fingers. It was priceless! Since Alex and I had never seen her wave before, I thought it was just a fluke. When she started shrieking again, I said "shh" again. And what did Allie do? She smiled, lifted up her hand and waved her little fingers again. So cute! Since then, she's started waving "hi", "bye" and any other time that she feels like it.

And of course, we have to share the "Da" story. It is hard for us to pinpont the first time she said it, given that she is constantly making all kinds of little noises and we never know if they are intentional or not. Allie and I went on a trip to Iowa last week. While we were there, she and I were snuggling in bed early one morning. (Typically, Allie, Alex and I will do this whenever possible). So while Allie and I were playing, she kept turning her head in the direction where Alex typically lays and repeatedly said "Da". Another time occurred after we had returned home. Allie was in the bathtub, and Alex was sticking his head around the corner of the tub, playing peekaboo. He left the room for a few minutes and Allie started calling out "Da" because she wasn't done playing yet!
