*Updated: All #s below will be adjusted in the next few days, as all participants ran an extra .15 miles on the course. Yay! Even better personal bests for Alex and I!*
Despite frigid temps (mid 30s factoring in the windchill!) and wind advisories (gusts up to 43 miles an hour!) we finished our events today. It was no small feat, by any means! And not only did we finish, but we achieved numerous personal bests along the way!
Alex - completed the full marathon (26.2 miles!).
Finished in 4:12:44.
40:05 off his race time from last year.
Average mile time dropped 1:33 from last year.
Completed a full marathon 2 years in a row.
AWESOME JOB, ALEX!!!
Janelle - completed the half marathon (13.1 miles!).
Finished in 2:24:42.
25:20 off her race time from last year.
Average mile time dropped 1:57 from last year.
Gradually decreased her average mile time over the course of this year's event: 5 miles-11:27; 10 miles-11:09; 13.1 miles-11:02.
Ran the entire 13.1 miles with no walk breaks.
AWESOME JOB, JANELLE!!!
These personal bests are certainly some amazing accomplishments for us considering they were made during less than stellar race conditions (in complete contrast to last year's blue skies, 60 degree temps, and zero wind!).
Maybe we should end our "racing career" on a high note?!!
Janelle says yes.
Alex, on the other hand, has aspirations to run a 50 mile race.
(It was too windy and cold for pictures after the race. We opted to hop in the warm car and head on home. These pics are from later in the day. Can you tell Katelyn really missed us? Yeah, right! Allie was eating a snack and picking dandelions - much too busy to pose for pictures.
