Halloween 2010

I like Halloween. Really, I do (sort of). But, when did it turn into such a HUGE holiday?!

When I was a kid, we certainly didn't decorate our yard and the exterior of our house, and our neighbors didn't either. Now, you drive down any given street and you see numerous houses with halloween lights and additional decor. Really?! When did this become the norm?! And when I was young, we had 1 costume. One. That's it. Not 3, 4, or even 5. CRAZY! And all the parties were non-existent then. Sure, we had a school party. And we went trick-or-treating one time. That was it. Definitely not the case today. Our festivities seemed to last the entire second half of the month. It was fun, at first, for the grown-ups. Then it got a little old. I'm pretty sure, though, it was fun for the kids all month long!

So a quick summation of our Halloween activities (because I'm pretty burned out on the whole Halloween thing to go into much detail!) -- a Halloween party with our moms group, pumpkin picking at the Family Farm, pumpkin painting, jack-o-lantern pizza, pumpkin bread baking, pumpkin carving, pumpkin seed roasting, a visit to a nursing home to decorate cookies and go trick-or-treating with the residents, Halloween Spooktacular at the zoo, and finally, trick-or-treating around the neighborhood.

Exhausted reading about it? I'm right there with ya! :)

Finally, some photos. And that is it. Halloween 2010 is officially over.

Check out the candy. Not any cheap/generic stuff in the bunch. And this is what Allie took in from a block and a half of trick-or-treating. It seems people like to give out 3-4 pieces of candy, now, instead of just one.

(Okay, my ranting has officially come to an end and it really was a lot of fun. The girls are at a fun age and loved dressing up, trick-or-treating and of course, raking in all that candy.)

Sayonara Halloween!
