The last weekend in March, Alex completed his first half-marathon! The race was in Waukesha, WI. His goal was to finish in under 2 hours. He ran it in 1 hour and 48 minutes (Alex - insert your ranking by age here!).
Way to go, Alex!
As you can see, he was not a happy runner.
(And no, he's not the ultra-cool, professional-looking runner in the front. He's the one hobbling along in the back.)
(The clock is the time for the full marathoners who started 30 minutes prior to his event.)
In case you wondered (and because Alex and I are keeping score), I've never completed a half-marathon event. Instead, I skipped straight to a full. Here's the picture to prove it.
(I ran twice the distance, in 90 degree heat, in Jamaica, and even had a smile on my face at the end.)
Check back here in May to see if Alex can even up the score. (Despite my sarcasm, we really are proud of Alex's amazing accomplishment! It's just too bad for him that it wasn't as amazing as mine!)
