Little Miss Independent

To think we looked forward to the days when Allie could walk! We knew our lives would change, but it is hard to fathom just how much until your baby starts taking those first few steps. Yes, our "spirited" (the positive phrase used by parenting books to describe kids who are stubborn, independent and always on the go) child gets into everything. We have locks on the cabinets, gates at the stairs, covers on our electrical outlets, and the house baby proofed, but never fear, our Allie has special radar that helps her hone in on and uncover the ONE item that has accidentally been left out. Yes our lives have taken on a new routine...Pick up toys, put away toys, make meals, pick the meals up off the floor...and simultaneously follow Allie around to make sure she doesn't cause too much destruction. Then repeat routine, over and over again each day.

To give you a small glimpse into one ordinary day, here are some photos taken from Friday, August 29th.

Since it was Friday, we thought it would be fun to meet up with a friend and her little boy for a relaxing cup of coffee and some conversation. Thankfully Starbucks was not busy, as Allie found it amusing to roam the coffee shop. While we were there, she tripped, fell and got a big boo-boo on her forehead. About an hour after we got home, she stumbled again and rammed her forehead (the same side) into a door frame and got another big boo-boo. As you can see, she was not very happy about that.

Later in the day, Allie decided she needed some body art. We were thankful it wasn't permanent.

After dinner, Allie was a huge mess, so we decided she was due for a bath. As you can see, she's training to become an Olympic gymnast. I think she has the "stand on one leg" skill down pat.

Incidentally, a few minutes after this picture, she decided it was time to go to the bathroom (yes, #2). We haven't had that happen since she was a baby.

Ahh, what a day.

Gotta love her.
